The Michigan Park Citizens Association in northeast Washington, D.C. held a public forum on "What's Next for D.C.: Statehood, Retrocession, or House Vote?" on October 6, 2009. The speakers addressed the pros and cons for D.C. residents of the three options for D.C. status. The speakers were Anise Jenkins, President, Stand Up! for Democracy in D.C. Coaltion, on statehood, Larry Mirel, Founder, Committee for the Capital City, on retrocession to Maryland., and Eugene B. Kinlow, Public Affairs Director, D.C. Vote, on the House voting rights proposal in Congress. The Association will continue its discussion of these issues at future meetings.
